Looking back in 1992 when we first gathered in Long Beach California to form the JASHS Alumni Association USA, there were only a few of us but very enthusiastic about the idea of helping the alma mater and their students. Among those who attended 17 were elected officers and most of them are still actively serving in various capacities as officers of the organization. The dedication of these members and officers proved to be the backbone of the success of our organization.
The number of projects and donations are endless , to name a few , Adopt an Abadian Scholarship which started in 2000 has help hundreds of students to finish high school and some of them have pursued a teaching career to help needy students like them. Our computer donation project sparked a joint venture between Citibank and City Schools to start a computer lab with internet connection to encourage students to explore the vast knowledge on the web. The annual Medical Mission done very two years provides needed medical attention to students, teachers and parents who can’t afford medical help.
I encourage you to continue the fight and lets breed a new generation of youths who will do the same for their fellow countrymen. Although you have not met these students personally you have touch their lives in any way or form. What we’ve done to them changed their lives completely and hopefully they will do the same in the years ahead. It’s unfortunate that they have leveled the old building and have moved the students in the new school building in Numancia but nevertheless we will continue our support for the students sake.
Today we celebrate together with our friends and fellow alumni our lifelong accomplishments and may the Lord continue to strengthen us so that we can help others.
